Hi Dustin. I've just begun using dAuth 0.3 http://bakery.cakephp.org/articles/view/152 for a project and it seem to work really well and is easy to configure. Read the dAuth articles and read up on "Simple User Authentication" and "Access Control Lists" in the Cake manual and you should be good to go =).
