The only way I've had extra data in a HABTM join table, is to change the associations to hasMany (on both sides), with a new model in the middle. So instead of Cd HABTM Track, I would have Cd hasMany CdTracks, Track hasMany CdTracks, and CdTrack belongsTo Cd,Track.
