Thanks, I understand how to do that and actually I have always done it
that way. There are a lot of drawbacks of that method, the most
important being the end-user with FTP-access. In this case, I really
want to prevent the database not being in sync with the actual
filesystem.

Would it be possible to cache these file, or wouldn't it? After all,
it's just a view with imagedata instead of html...
