Special Weather Statement issued May 26 at 11:37PM CDT by NWS
Houston/Galveston TX
At 1136 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a
line extending from 10 miles south of Kennard to 9 miles southwest of
Huntsville to near Montgomery to 6 miles south of Todd Mission to near
Sealy to 6 miles southeast of Moulton. Movement was east at 35 mph. These
storms have a history of producing 30 to 50mph gusts. HAZARD...Wind gusts
up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock
down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted
include... Pasadena, Pearland, Sugar Land, Baytown, Missouri City, Conroe,
northern Friendswood, Deer Park, Rosenberg, Alvin, Stafford, South Houston,
Bellaire, Humble, West University Place, Katy, Richmond, El Campo, Galena
Park, and Tomball.
InstructionsIf outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. If on
or near area lakes, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a
vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent
thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by
lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a
thunderstorm. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 500 AM
CDT for southeastern Texas.
