I want to remind everyone about the BVARC Annual Chili Supper and Elections
tomorrow night at 7:30 pm. Make sure you come out to vote in the elections and
enjoy some great chili prepared by the great BVARC food team. We need to have
at least 35 members present so we can have a quorum for the elections.
Just to remind everyone of the positions that are up for the elections: Vice
President, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, Two-year (B) At Large director
and One-year at large director. Chuck Hale, the election coordinator will
present the slate of people that are running for office at the beginning of the
meeting. Anyone that would like to nominate someone can let Chuck know at that
time. Below is a schedule of the meeting. It may change depending on the number
of candidates that are running.
7:00 pm    Chili will be served7:30 pm    Meeting will start with a very short
announcement time. Then candidates will be announced and if they wish they can
do a short three minute presentation on why they are running for office. 8:00
pm    Voting will start. Paper ballots will be available but if candidates are
running unopposed, a simple vote of showing of hands will be done instead. If
there are more than once person running for office, then the paper ballots will
be used for that position. Poxies can be used and need to be done in the
following manner:
   - A general proxy gives the proxy holder the leverage to vote their own
conscience.
   - A specific proxy must vote the wishes of the proxy.
   - The third or hybrid format is a general proxy, but it allows the proxy to
give special directions to the proxy holder.
Voting should be completed by 8:30 to 8:45, if done by paper ballot, and the
winners announced at that time.  The times will vary some do to chili being
served, the presentations, the voting and the counting.
Hope to see everyone at the chili supper tomorrow!
