If you receive the ARRL periodical publications, and you wish to learn more about antenna modeling, you are in luck. The latest on-line QEX edition has yet another "Self Paced Essay" by Eric Nichols, KL7AJ. QEX Jan/Feb 2024 has the 20th Self Paced Essay and its subject is about NEC (the calculating engine of the popular antenna modeling programs (MMANA, EZNEC, 4nec2 etc.). It starts at his beginning of NEC use and thru each month's essay it will enlighten you on antenna modeling. Hopefully to the point of you understanding enough and taking off and soloing on a few models.
Nichols' "Self Paced Essay" series is all available on-line. It starts in the August/Sept 2020 QEX issue and covers a wide range of electrical and RF engineering design topics. Quite a few that can be linked directly to antenna design. Check them out in each bi-monthly QEX issue. Eric Nichols is a prolific writer in our ham radio world. He even appears in the July 2020 BVARC Beacon with an article Organic Amateur Radio.
