I attended the BVARC BOD meeting this morning. When the discussion of Field Day came up, there were several ideas floated:
1. Setting up one or more stations at the FD site to operate remotely. (Scheduling using real-time Google Sheets). The problem would be turning antennas, but a skeleton crew could be there to make adjustments. 2. Setting up one or more member stations to operate remotely using club call. (Scheduling using real-time Google Sheets) 3. All stations operating separately with their own calls to combine as an aggregate club score. Perhaps find a way for software to broadcast data to be monitored in real-time to view by all. This is already possible for a number of contests, but at present, Field Day is not one of them. N1MM has this capability. 4. Member stations operating with their own call at home with new class (1X) for a club aggregate score; [not sure if we could get ARRL and logging software writers to go this way, though] 5. Other ideas??? I have a concern that even if we are a go for Field Day at the site, we will have a reduced turnout because people are still afraid to go out in public and be in close quarters. Thoughts? I think there will be a Zoom meeting set up for next Saturday to discuss our path forward. Will advise time and login. Allen R.
