Hamcom organizers are asking for anyone who may want to make a presentation at the Hamcom convention to send in a title and a paragraph on your presentation. Please send it to Eric or Jim.
Hamcom organizers did a survey of the members on what topics they wanted to hear about and you can see these results below by clicking on the link. This information may be useful for the Houston Hamfest organizers. Do you want to see if anyone in TDXS (Houston area guys) want to participate in the presentations we put on for Hamcom? Below is a solicitation from W0UO. 73, Eric ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Jim Spaulding <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Date: Wed, Jan 1, 2020 at 11:52 AM Subject: Call for Papers To: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> >, [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> >, [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Gents and Ladies, This is a formal call for papers, that is presentations, for the 2020 Ham Com. It is being send to former volunteers, the DFW Contest Group, the Lone Star DX Association, and other contest and dx clubs in the W5 call area. Please look over the following information and submit proposals for presentations to me , at this email address, by January 15, 2020. It is not necessary to have completed the presentation, but I would like a title and synopsis. This will serve as an aid to Ham Com for advertising. Presentations should stress becoming a life time learner and encourage newer hams to learn by doing. What follows are some ideas gleaned from a survey undertaken last year. I have a tentative commitment for Antenna Basics, Antennas for Your Yard, and the TX7T Expedition to the Marquesas. We have a definite need for presenters for N1MM+, both basic and advanced. DO NOT FEEL YOUR PRESENTATION NEEDS TO BE LIMITED TO THESE TOPICS. If you have a good idea for a presentation, please let me know. Here are the results of our survey, weighted .6 for first choice and .4 for second choice of programs: 1 53 points LOTW, Club, OQRS. Bureaus 2 48 points Options for Computer Logging 3 48 points Installation and Maintenance of Feed Lines and Connectors 4 41 points Measuring Performance and Detection of Change 5 40 points Tips and Tricks for DXing and Contesting 6 33 points Remote Stations, Construction and Operation 7 31 points Antenna Basics 8 28 points Cable Terminations 9 26 points Overview of N1MM+ 10 25 points Evaluation of Transmitters and Receivers 11 23 points N1MM+ with FT4 and FT8 12 23 points N1MM+ and Station Automation 13 23 points Contesting with FT4 and FT8 I would appreciate your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you by January 15. 73 and Happy New Year Jim W0UO -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ham Com 2020 Presentation Development" group.
