Allen,
I agree. I am starting to ‘freak out’ about not getting things done in time. Dave sent me a nice Long e-mail regarding receiving antenna for 40 meters. I sure would like to have that antenna. He has everything to set this up. But, we cannot have the phased beverage pointed at the GOTA station in the emergency truck. Dave also stated that we cannot have it near the main antennas or it will be overpowered by the transmitted signals. Here is the situation with the FD. 1. Bill has the antennas under control. He is going ahead on planning to put the CW tower close to the house and the other two parallel to it so they all point NW to NE rotatable manually. 2. I am assuming that Glenn has everything taken care of for the computers. Please send him an e-mail to check. 3. We have additional A/C units 4. Your list is working fine. We can add more people later. 5. The GOTA station needs a leader or two. I don’t mind helping to promote it but someone needs to be there. Any suggestions? 6. Mike says the food is taken care of. He has appointed Kelli and Daphne to take care of this. We probably need to supplement the food with high energy protein snacks for late night operators. 7. No one has reported on the progress of the Reliant people for the reduction of noise. I will try and get a meeting together before the BVARC meeting since I will be out of the country for several days in June. We have a couple of issues that need to be decided as we move forward with the planning. 1. GOTA station operation, management and promotion. 2. Finalization of Antenna placement that includes location of GOTA station 3. 6 meter antenna, location and operation. GOTA station is very important during FD because it can account for many points besides the QSO scores. We need someone to take on the task of organizing the setup, operation and marketing of the station to the local schools, Boy Scouts, ARRL officials, and other organizations. All of these activities can add a lot of points to the total score. DO WE HAVE ANY VOLUNTEERS?? We also need to finalize the exact location of the GOTA station at the FD site, including filters and antennas, so we can finalize the layout of the antennas for minimum interference between different stations. Finally, due to the low number of sunspots, a lot of our QSOs are going to come from operating 40 and 80 meters. As you all know, the noise level on these two bands will make it very difficult to hear stations calling us without special listening antennas. Dave, K5GN, has a beverage antenna for 40 meters that he is willing to bring and install. However, it needs to be installed away from the other antennas, including the GOTA station. The 6 meter antenna location needs to be decided and the rig needs to be manned. Do we have a person responsible for the antenna erection and operation of the station? Will this rig be operated on FT8 or just SSB? If you are involved with any of these three issues, please let everyone know the plan. Nizar
