in and out and check ins only do server a function.. several in fact.

if lets someone check in without answering al the goofy on the spot questions
(unless he wants to)

if might get someon on the mic that might not be prone to talk ormally on the
94 repeater ( or at all)

it might increase the net COUNT… which doesn’t seem to be a big thing recently
but in the past

it was kind of exciting to get the checkin count up in the 30s, 40,s 60s, and
probably higher, (also

possibly enticing someone that might just be a lurker to grab his mic and use
it!! )

and lastly, the more folks that check in show the BVARC club members that care
and especially the

ones involved in presenting the net that there are actually a lot of folks out
there…

a few years ago we could hardly get a net op, and then hardly anyone n
frequency…

I do agree with Ron on the early check ins.. if the net doesn’t start untill
7pm then how can

they check in before it starts?? but we always make exceptions.. always have…

Great idea Ron...I've never understood the "check in and out" thing.

If you're not going to stay and participate, why bother.

Good Morning,

I will be Net Control for tonight’s net. The following discussion topics are
suggested for the net

1. Last Saturday’s Makers Faire at the GRB

a. Membership – What are you doing to promote BVARC membership?

b. What should BVARC do to encourage people to join the club?

2. Band Conditions - Anybody worked some good DX?

3. ARRL Sweepstakes SSB Contest this weekend.

In order to promote participation and discussion, by all interested parties, I
will not be taking early check ins or any “in and outs”.

73,

Ron, K5HM
