Ladies and Gentleman,

I know it seems that the 2016 Greater Houston Hamfest (GHH) is months away
and it is; however, it is never too early to start the massive effort
required to bring the second largest hamfest in Texas to the Houston area.
THEREFOR, let the word go forth, the planning and marketing of the GHH is
under way. Some of you have already been called to duty and the work has
begun. As chairman it is my duty to keep you all informed so please take a
moment and read on.

First let me report to you the official date is March 19, 2016 and the
location will once again be at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds. Many of
you have been looking forward to a change in location and I assure you we
have been looking, sampling, tasting, poking, and prodding other venues. I
think some of us have even been seen lurking about many other hamfests just
to get ideas plans and ideas. The long term plan is still to find a new
home for the GHH. The search will continue.

We know we have reached the point of needing additional space for our
vendors and guests. To that end I am pleased to announce we have added
additional buildings to the GHH footprint. With bigger space comes bigger
responsibility both to the budget and to the GHH itself. We have received
many suggestions that will increase the value of admission to the GHH. Some
of these ideas will require BVARC membership to step up and help before and
during the hamfest. I will begin the search for volunteers by simply
reminding everyone to save the date and remember the GHH is the one huge
revenue making event for BVARC.

Last year the GHH was honored to host Joe Taylor whom I believe helped push
our attendance to an all-time record. I was not sure we would ever be able
to attract such talent this year but our own Ron Litt has once again pulled
the rabbit out of the hat! So we are pleased to announce Riley
Hollingsworth, K4ZDH enthusiastically accepted our invitation to be this
years featured speaker. Riley is the former FCC Special Counsel for the
Spectrum Enforcement Division now retired and a fantastic speaker. I will
leave his formal induction to Ron when he is ready. THANK YOU Ron!

As always please look to the website for current up to date information
about the GHH and I will keep this email going from month to month. There
are many earth shaking changes coming to the GHH this year so keep your ears
open! And as always I would refer all questions to the contact emails
created for hamfest.

In the words of Bill Stone, "MORE TO BE REVEALED!!!!"
