Hello all,

Will be trying some experiments with horizontal dipole antennas on 6m.

I remember when I had my 10m dipole up at 24', I could BARELY hear KF5ONT who
was probably only 10-15 miles away, straight line and we were both using 100w
SSB.

How high would I have to get a 6m dipole to be able to hear him 'better,' with
better meaning S5 instead of barely S1 ?

BTW, construction on the 10m dipole was a 'hamstick' dipole mount on a 25'
telescoping mast, with 2 x 102" whips taking the place of the hamsticks, fed
with 50' of RG58 with a choke balun near the hamstick mount. I know this
worked GREAT for my PropNet beacon, but for local stuff phone work, it stank.

I'm going to build the 6m dipole the same way.

Any opinions, flames, advice is all welcome.

73, Rob, KC5RET
