Sometimes even the big DX stations with legal limit power and multi element
beam antennas larger than my house dont get the joy of making some
contact...other times a single strand of wire ( short long wire) hanging out of
an apartment window and 10 watts makes the contact. Please try to not get to
discouraged. I want to work the world and thats not an easy task. Many new
countries have been heard and not contacted so when I get one in the log makes
for much joy. BTW sometimes the CB antennas work best on 10 meters. I use a
maco V-quad and it beats out most all 3 element yagis....even some 4 element
ones.
Johnathan hang in there my friend. It took me for ever to work all 50 WAS the
hard way prior to and without the w1aw working all states. Also you will find
all are just trying to be helpful with there tips and tricks. The comments are

I planned. I checked the DX reflector. I tuned and I listened. I did a
bunch of transmitting, too, so telling me how you worked W1AW with a pair of
rocks and some wet string as an antenna just makes me want to sell all my
radios and go off and do botany or something.

Jonathan you just have to be persistent when working the stations,

Sorry to hear that Jonathan. I have worked the W1AW Portable stations many
times when they were running simplex. Ususally that is when there are no
pileups. It iseasier than you may surmise with a little planning.

Oh, I gave up on W1AW portable weeks ago. They seem to never not run
