Does that mean that you'll also nominate me for FD Chairman? I share Dominic's opinion. Please notice that my name is also not on any signup sheet. That’s because I was told it would be “prudent” for me to stay home. I trust you can understand how I felt about that. Yes, it does require a certain amount of coordinated effort for me to go anywhere, but that doesn't mean the smart play is to stay home. By that logic, the smartest thing would be for me to never do anything, right? WRONG. In practicality, the effort required for me to attend something simply means it’s wise to wring every bit of benefit from me that you can while I’m present. I am capable of operating any mode except CW, and I did PSK last year only because that was the digital mode somebody selected for BVARC to use. The point multipliers associated with the digital modes just served to enhance my contribution to the club effort. No, I don't really want to be Chairman. I may have sufficient technical ability, most certainly I do in the IT area. I did software development for Shell for 14 years, and I’ll always be a geek. But, I obviously can't do the physical things like help hang antennas or run coax. I also have the habit of saying what I truly think. Some people really dislike that, but hey, I sleep fairly well at night because I know I give my best shot to whatever I’m doing. Someone told me that Roy was basically drafted into the Chair, but that really doesn't change much in my opinion because he still agreed to give it his best effort. I actually think his lottery idea for filling time-slots might work during the day when there are plenty of operators willing to be there, but night ops will probably be an entirely different matter. That has been why I volunteer for the dog shift.
