I ran tee /proc/acpi/bbswitch <<<OFF This setting is permanent ! After a few hot reboots, the screen was still working normally. However, when I tried to run bbswitch again, I saw the error modprobe bbswitch FATAL: Error inserting bbswitch (/lib/modules/3.2.0-23-generic/updates/dkms/bbswitch.ko): No such device The next day, after a cold reboot, the screen remains permanently black ! Cold reboots do not fix the problem. Now I can only access my computer remotely through SSH, which is very inconvenient. The Nvidia card does not appear anymore in the "lspci" output. I tried various PCI "rescans", but nothing worked.
