Hi Rory,

Regarding Apache Kafka, we are getting closer (the recently released Gradle
4.1 helped), but there are a few blockers before our test suite passes:

1. EasyMock: https://github.com/easymock/easymock/issues/193. There is a PR
(https://github.com/easymock/easymock/pull/200), but it's blocked by
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MSHADE-258.

2. PowerMock: https://github.com/powermock/powermock/issues/783

Generally, a final release of ASM 6 and a working maven-shade-plugin would
go a long way.

Hope that helps.

Ismael
