[~ipv6guru] I think there is 'mvn' in the PATH that led to this problem.
You can check with:
$ ls -la `which mvn`
I think it is a link to some of the listed above.
I'd suggest to remove it from there and update PATH to be: $M2_HOME/bin:$PATH
Please close the ticket.
