Yeah, something really nasty is happening to slaves with Maven jobs running on them. I've been investigating and have opened https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-23098, but haven't had a chance to bug other core jenkins devs for help or really dig into the thread dumps myself yet.
