After removing all files from /etc/firmware/amdgpu, the machine now boots to a console login prompt, or a graphical login prompt if /etc/rc.conf.local contains: xenodm_flags="" The machine has performed without error in a console and in the X Window System now that .../amdgpu is empty, since mid morning today. dmesg output does report 4 drm related errors however, namely: [drm] *ERROR* Failed to load mc firmware! [drm] *ERROR* sw_init of IP block <gmc_v8_0> failed -19 drm:pid0:amdgpu_device_init *ERROR* amdgpu_device_ip_init failed drm:pid0:amdgpu_driver_load_kms *ERROR* Fatal error during GPU init 3. Let me know if you want/need a complete dmesg from the machine as it now is, or if you want/need more serial boot output. --- aer
