Hmm, unless I'm mistaken the checksum field is: 00 00 00 00 00 00 70 00 FWICS the problem is that one of the checksum variants evaluates to zero and tar is rather lax on accepting null checksum string (with trailing garbage) as zero. My first thought would to improve the heuristic a bit by requiring the checksum to contain at least one octal digit. -- Best regards, Michał Górny
