The numeric.at test is broken on filesystems with BSD group semantics. I already reported this for 1.29 and this fix was suggested: https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-tar/2016-06/txt9bP0DVvYnu.txt Alas, it hasn't found its way into 1.30.
