Current build of gnu tar progam has a slight flaw. The current build
that I have is 1.14 was compilled with gcc version 3.4.1. Tested issue
on slackware 10.0 and with unknown system from a online contact.

here is the issue
-----------------------

after creating a tar archive with multiple files the files cannot be
listed in the archive using the -t option. The program hangs as if in
a infinte loop. Keybored input is ignored and the only way to return
back to a command line is to use CTRL - C or to kill the process.

I hope this information is usefull.
