First the error message after the crash: --- Begin --- Assertion (disk != NULL) at ../../libparted/disk.c:1370 in function ped_disk_get_partition() failed --- End --- What have I done? I... - started QTparted - right-clicked on /dev/sdb - chose "Make a new Partition Table" - clicked on "Yes" on the confirmation window - *boom* (see message above) parted version is 1.7.1 according to the crash message. Problem also occours when using Gnome Parted, but this gives additional information: --- Begin --- ====================== libparted : 1.7.1 ====================== Unable to open /dev/sdb - unrecognised disk label. Device /dev/sdb has a logical sector size of 2048. Not all parts of GNU Parted support this at the moment, and the working code is HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL.
