Parted automatically aligns partitions based on what it thinks is best
(or, rather, necessary).  The mathematics of partition tables are
sometimes strange ones.  Be sure that it's for your own good :)

The 'unit' command will tell you which unit is currently in use.  You
can always suffix numbers with a unit to tell parted what you mean.
