If you think you've found a bug in GNU make, please add details here about it
and I can re-open.
If you're trying to understand your makefile and why it's not working, please
use the help-m...@gnu.org mailing list to get help, not the bug tracker: we
don't run Savannah projects like GitHub projects where all help discussion is
done through the issue tracker. In Savannah projects (at any rate, in GNU
Make) the bug tracker is for bugs in the project, and problems or help using
the project are discussed in the mailing lists.
