Follow-up Comment #2, bug #63668 (project make): I wonder if we shouldn't be using configure to locate the C++ compiler. Of course it could be the case that the compiler is visible at the time make is built but not at the time make is invoked; we wouldn't use the full pathname of course just the program name.
