You could have at least provided build logs, showing where the failures 
occurred.

Seriously, if you want support on such an outdated system, you will need to 
first contribute patches to gnulib to work around these deficiencies, as well 
as convincing the set of gnulib developers that there is enough active interest 
in maintaining ports to this museum-ware to be worth the effort.
