Thanks for the report.  You've got something wrong in your system headers,
but your kernel seems pretty new, so that seems weird.

Can you isolate the portions of the config.log that mention why the
compilation failed (or send the entire config.log)?

Also, could you please check if you still get these errors with the latest
snapshot?  http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-m4/2008-12/msg00021.html
