Dear LilyPond developers, I am sending my first bug report, and I hope I am following the correct procedure by sending it here first. Apologies if these four issues should have been separately reported, but given how some of the issues are interrelated, I decided to report them in this email thread.
*1. Collision of rh low keys with rh one* \version "2.25.28" > { > c1^\markup { > \center-column { > 'low-bass-clarinet > " " > \woodwind-diagram > #'low-bass-clarinet > #'((cc . ( )) > (lh . ( )) > (rh . (four ees > )) > ) > } > } > } Picture file: https://github.com/yoshiakionishi/lilypond/blob/main/bug-report-picture-files/1_collision.png When rh's *fis*, *gis*, *e*, *f*, *ees*, or *d* is activated, it automatically shows the *low*-*c* and *low-cis* keys. While this may not be a problem, they do collide with rh's *one*, unless *low-c*, *low-cis*, and/or *low-d* is specified, at which point, the rh keys *one* through *four* move downward, apparently fixing the issue. *2. rh "low-" keys need to move downward* Picture file: https://github.com/yoshiakionishi/lilypond/blob/main/bug-report-picture-files/2_low-bass-clarinet-improvement-submit.png At the moment, the rh's *low-cis *and *low-c* keys are placed above rh's *one *through *four* keys, which is not an accurate placement considering the bass clarinet's mechanics. In the picture file above, I also indicate the possible area where these keys could move. *3a. No lh d and rh low-d implemented* For 'low-bass-clarinet, when lh's *d *or rh's *low-d* is specified, no key shows up as being pressed although the group of keys do appear. For lh's *d*, the picture file in Item 2 proposes where the key should be implemented (indicated in red, and labeled "lh d". Shape is given as an example. rh *low-d* key should be placed to the left of *low-cis* key. The picture file shows an example of implementation. *3b. naming of rh low-d* For some users, the designication of the rh key *low-d* may invite some confusion, as this *low-d* key is, for many users (namely those playing Selmer *Privilege* or Buffet Crampon *Tosca*), pushing this key actually produces written low E-flat. Within Buffet Crampon, their *Prestige* bass clarinet has the low-d key. This bass clarinet is also popular. It might be worth considering renaming this key, for example "low-d-or-ees" (though this is a handful to type and may not be preferable). *4. Possible inclusion of the 'low-bass-clarinet in the LilyPond documentation?* Link: https://lilypond.org/doc/v2.25/Documentation/notation/woodwinds.html#woodwind-diagrams It actualy took me a while to discover that LilyPond featured the fingering system for bass clarinet down to Low C, as the website's Selected Snippets --> Woodwind diagrams listing didn't cover it (though it was inconspicuously listed in the "Woodwind diagrams key lists" section. It may be worth including the low bass clarinet fingering chart in the future version release? Many thanks for your attention to these issues I discovered. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you might have. I am also active in the usual "lilypond-user" mailing list.
