Hmm. The only thing you did is installing a new Pango .so file, and you are using OpenType fonts only? This would mean that the current version of Pango is not ABI compatible to the old one, or there is a serious bug... Right now I can see heavy activity on the Pango bug tracker. It seems that the recent changes cause shit to hit the fan, so to say :-) To cite Behdad Esfahbod on recent Pango issues (https://github.com/fontforge/fontforge/issues/3853#issuecomment-517988452): The way this turned out is a disaster? Sure. No doubt. That's what Matthias [Clasen] has been working around the clock to clean the mess. Multiple followup releases out already. We're all trying to figure out a solution that makes all stakeholders happy. Takes some time unfortunately. Let's hope things will stabilize over the next few days.
