That's correct, and that means that Frescobaldi can't do anything about
the compression part of the issue, but it can accept an additional file
extension.

This is directed at Frescobaldi and not LilyPond. I can easily add
that, but could you please add that wish on Frescobaldi's GitHub
issue tracker so it doesn't get lost.
