Well that wasn't quite how Malte described it --snip-- are cut off at the top (all) and bottom (varC/altovarC). --snip-- So I assumed he meant that the LilyPond-book created image was 'cut off' at the top and bottom of the 'staff' - I know we have some comments about this somewhere in the Tracker for PDF outputs/lilypond-book cropping (IIRC).
