Hi Hans, as a child I indeed learned Bindebogen/Legatobogen for Tie/Slur. Though nowadays as a music-teacher I think it's a terrible and confusing terminolgy and I only teach Haltebogen for Ties. I'd vote for changing it. Would be great you could give it a go. In general the german translation is behind the current state far to often...
