Virtual Box is a next/next/next click/click/click install and so is pretty much installing LilyDev. My mother could do it. If you're comfortable with 'containers' and understand (or think you understand) why they are 'better' or 'more useful' than a VM in this context then LilyDev probably isn't for you other than just a convenience, and you could probably just create your own VM and install all the dependencies you need as documented in the the Contributor's Guide. I wouldn't have even bothered to begin to start development with LilyPond had it not been for LilyDev in a VM (I had a mac, and had no experience of things like building code). I worry that sometimes we lose sight of the purpose of LilyDev. It isn't supposed to be just be about making it easier for 'developers' (you already probably know how to do this stuff yourself), it's for lesser mortals like myself and those that don't have time to worry about if my underlying OS will work or not. Is it as easy to *set up* docker containers on a Windows or Mac Laptop (for example) as it is to install VirtualBox and install an ISO file in a VM today?
