Well, the musicxml2ly script ships with LilyPond just like lilypond-book, isn't
it?
Sorry for the noise of putting it in two messages, but I just confirmed
that musicxml2ly.py is not only shipped with LilyPond but also developed
in its Git repository, with hundreds of commits touching the file.
And there are 42 issues for "musicxml" on the tracker.
