Uh, the snippets tagged "docs" are all imported in LilyPond anyway, so
one should just take them from Documentation/snippets/new (if they
required changes more than running convert-ly).

I don't understand what you're saying here, David.
If a snippet has no "docs" tag in the LSR, then it is not exported from the
LSR and won't appear in the official documentation. If it is in the
official documentation and is wrong, it can be removed by removing the docs
tag in the LSR. That is, unless the snippet has been updated past 2.14.0,
when a new version will have to have been made in snippets/new. In this
case, the LSR version is still imported, but is then over-written by the
version from /new.
