maybe I'm missing something - but with

\new TabStaff <<
  \new TabVoice { a b c }
  \addlyrics {add- ly- rics }
>>

an extra staff with the melody is added but the tab voice stays empty.

a workaround has been shown e.g. in
http://lilypond.1069038.n5.nabble.com/lyrics-with-tab-staff-td137739.html#a137743

is this a bug?
should the documentation be enhanced with a warning about the limitations of
\addlyrics?
or should \addlyrics be eradicated?
