New issue 2388 by elu...@gmail.com: Doc: using \voiceXXX for direction and
placement
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=2388
in NR, 5.4.2 Direction and placement, after:
"
Alternatively, in many cases predefined commands exist to specify the
direction. These are all of the form
\xxxUp, xxxDown, xxxNeutral
where xxxNeutral means “use the default direction”. See Section
“Within-staff objects” in Learning Manual.
"
I'd like to add the following text:

There is still another alternative that efficiently directs all objects
(stems, dots, slurs, ties, phrasing slurs, dynamics, text spanners and
tuplet brackets,…) UP or DOWN: \voiceOne, \voiceTwo, \voiceThree and
\voiceFour (where One and Three place the objects above and Two and Four
below). To return the decision making to LilyPond there is the command
\oneVoice. This feature is specially useful with polyphonic situations.
Warning: changing the direction of one object only may result in a
different output than changing the whole bunch with a \voiceXXX command.
*** end of new ***
please feel free to rephrase my text - I'm not a native English speaker.
