There are a few problems wrapped up together here:
1) osx ppc: few users, infrequent testing, believed to be fixed now.
2) normal osx: many users, generally poor communication between developers
and testers. Currently broken for at least some users. Known fix
available but not "acted upon".
3) all GUB+lilypad: generally poor communication between developers and
developers. No person taking clear responsibility.
In the past, I tried to handle #3, but I am no longer doing so. Somebody
else needs to step up an organize work on osx build stuff. This involves a
rather rare skill set: they need to run GUB (fixing random OS-specific bugs
in GUB along the way if they crop up), they need to be aware of the current
problems, and they need to know who to ask to do specific tasks along the
way. In fact right now there is no single person (including myself) who is
able to update/replicate all steps required to produce the osx build from
scratch.
