One issue is that we roll our own Python with LilyPond, so the solution of
downloading the binary from the python website would likely be a last
resort. Is there any way that you could try this recipe with the Python
executable that comes "out of the box" from LilyPond? That is, is the
LilyPond-packaged Python a cause of the problem? If it turns out that this
is the case, could you give us the error message? That'll help us in
writing a solution into GUB.
