The internals reference is completely auto-generated from the code. If we want to add paper variables to the IR, we need to develop an infrastructure for doing so, perhaps through something like a file scm/define-paper-variables.scm (analogous to scm/define-grob-properties.scm and scm/define-context-properties.scm.
