I might add that I am pretty excited about this round of patches. Being able to move \mark, \time, \times and \key to music functions, and smoothly integrating their use of \default with the general music function API is quite nice.

\tempo with its ludicrous syntax remains odd man out. And I would like to retire "scalar" including its support of arithmetic in Lilypond rather than Scheme: its implications for syntax and parser lookahead are simply awful, and it is does not appear at first glance that it is documented or used anywhere.
