Here are some straightforward changes to fix some of those warnings:

It's basically just replacing int variables/functions with vsize ones. As I
cannot reproduce the warnings on my 32-systems, could you please confirm
that the number of warnings is reduced, and post the new list of warnings
to be fixed?
