the vertical spacing concept is very powerful, but there is no feature to
control the distance of the next line in a score. 

with the \paper variable system-system-spacing this can be set for an entire
\book or \bookpart but if you want two \score(s) in such a section to be
differently spaced you need a hack like described in this thread -

imo it should be possible to use a compatible variable/parameter - maybe
"next-line/staff" or "line-line-spacing" or even "inter-line-spacing" ? - to
specify this.
