\melisma sets the context property melismaBusy to #t in the input stream. But the property appears to be set too late to be seen by melisma_busy() in lily/context.cc. The first calls to melisma_busy(), from lily/lyric_combine_music_iterator.cc return and lily/lyric_engraver.cc, both see #f, but subsequent calls see #t. It is the first call that needs to see #t. Presumably the fix would be to make \melisma generate an event?
