Sorry - you're right Keith, my bad.
Forgot to compile using make before my make check.
Compiles w/ a clean make check.
I do not know this part of the source well enough to have an opinion on
which one of these solutions is most sustainable and lilypondesque. But,
Keith's most recent one works.
Keith - could you please add a regtest to your patch so that we can check
for future regressions?
