Hi, I'm taking a look at the notation manual under "Collision
Resolution".

The first beat on the second bar in the example has bad output (merges
an eighth and a half note while inexplicably keeping the eighth's note
head).

This particular faulty piece of the output remains in the first three
examples. In the fourth example, the problem of the incorrect merge is
"resolved" by shifting the note head of a voice _unrelated_ to the
collision problem. The result of the notehead merge becomes correct, at
the cost of an utterly unmotivated (and quite ugly) shifting of a note
not even involved with the actual conflict.

Can we do better?
