Ian,
I think we should consider compiling .scm files as part of the build
process, since it is unsightly (to say the least) to watch Guile
autocompile LilyPond's .scm files. When we are closer to full
compatibility with Guile 2.0 (if we can), then we can look into this.
Regarding the output dir, I would think the .go files should be in out/scm,
or possibly in scm/out with a out/scm being a symlink to this directory.
