This notehead is used for quarter notes and shorter. I think the notehead would be the same for half and full notes. This would make half and quarter notes look the same, but the point is: long notes never happen on toms. You just hit the tom in the score with your drumstick, the length of the note only indicates how long it takes before the next hit. So if it takes a very long time before the next hit, rests would be used instead of long notes.
I hope this is clarifying?
