You can't blame Reinhold; set-octavation produces exactly the same
output. :)
I believe the issue is that \ottava needs to read the context property
middleCPosition before setting any other properties; all the subsequent
property
setting is inside the procedure ottava-modify, which is passed as the
argument to
'ApplyContext.
